Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa (Hawaii)
This post is sponsored. As always, all opinions are mine.
The Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa is located on the island of Hawai'i also known as the Big Island. Si and I arrived to the resort around 9pm HAST (which was 1 a.m. CST) and were extremely tired after our super adventurous 24 hours in Los Angeles. When we finally arrived, we left our rental with valet and checked in at the front desk which took less than 5 minutes. We made our way to the room and got settled in and fell asleep before I could even remember. The bed was very comfortable.
Around 6:00 am the next morning, I woke up to get some water and was pleasantly surprised to see the ocean outside of our balcony sliding doors. The view was so beautiful and breathtaking that we decided to sit outside and enjoy the sunrise. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Next we attended the "Vacation Kick Off" which the resort hosts a few times per week. The session is an informational that covers resort and island activities.
The resort has several complimentary activities for guests to enjoy such as hula lessons, lei making, ukulele lessons, and even yoga. Also available are Manta Ray Talk, Ho'oulu Farmers Market and more!
Now, about the food: On night two we opted to dine at the resort's Rays on the Bay. The restaurant is a beautiful open space that was the perfect setting for a romantic dinner overlooking the bay. We sat in comfy chairs in front of a fire pit and enjoyed our meal and drinks. As we were eating we noticed other patrons standing and looking over the balcony and questioned the waiter. He informed us that we would be able to view Manta Rays in the Bay (hence the name of the restaurant). I never knew ray watching could be so much fun, but we really enjoyed it! Each time one appeared in the light for a quick second it was magical.
You can't stay at a Sheraton and not get room service for breakfast! One morning we kept it simple with Apple Jacks (hers) and a bacon and egg sandwich (his), but on another morning we went all out and had pancakes, scrambled eggs (his with cheese), bacon , hash browns, and toast! The latter meal was so filling we fell asleep and took a morning nap!
One of my favorite days during our vacation we spent as a "resort day." The Sheraton Kona has 2 pools: one in the center of the resort that features a waterfall and another one that has the ocean as its backdrop and has a water slide. To say we enjoyed the water slide is an understatement - - we went down the slide more than the children...with no shame might I add.
With all of the swimming and sliding, we worked up an appetite. For lunch, we ordered a suggested item from the poolside server, the SOMETHING quesadilla. It was delicious! Our drink of choice were margaritas.
Because of the spacious and comfy room, the great customer service, the tasty food and beautiful views we have said that the Sheraton Kona will be our go-to resort any time we visit the Big Island.
